Reporting on Website Usage Including Content From CDNs

The video above illustrates how useful the Fastvue Site Clean feature is when it comes to reporting on website usage within an organization.

Before Fastvue Site Clean, reporting on a site such as youtube.com or nationalgeographic.com (the example in the video) only told part of the story. This is because most of a site's content is delivered from content delivery networks (CDNs) and other services hosted on different domains.

The video shows how using the Origin Domain filter in Fastvue Sophos Reporter (v2.0 and above) to report on nationalgeographic.com shows 26 MB of web usage, as it includes all the National Geographic content hosted on akamaihd.net, cloudfront.net and dozens of other domains.

When attempting to report on the nationalgeographic.com using Sophos UTM's on-box reports, only 3 MB of web usage is reported.

Although not shown in the video, the same problem exists when reporting with Sophos iView, and any other log-based reporting solution such as those offered by SonicWall, Fortinet, WatchGuard, Barracuda, Palo Alto Networks, WebSense, Forefront TMG and so on.

Fastvue Site Clean is the only log analysis service of its kind. It is currently available in both Fastvue Sophos Reporter v2.0, and Fastvue TMG Reporter v3.0, with more apps coming soon. And as you can see, Fastvue Site Clean really is the new standard in outbound web reporting.
